With declining telephone revenues and slowing growth of the broadband domain, telecommunication companies (telecos) are increasingly introducing new video services. These organizations are seeing internet protocol television (IPTV) as a growth opportunity due to its interactive multimedia capabilities. This is making a strong case for the IPTV sector, with all the prominent players competing to maximize their share.

Furthermore, with the rising competition among established and new players in the domain, the IPTV sector is witnessing significant growth. Various telecommunication companies, such as Vodafone, Verizon, and British Telecom, have entered the IPTV sector. In addition, key players are entering into partnerships and acquisition agreements to enlarge their foothold. For instance, in October 2017, Huawei publicized its partnership with Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) to introduce fiber-to-the-curb (FTTC)/fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solutions to upgrade PTCL’s fixed networks. The growing penetration of the internet is also supporting the IPTV sector, as all its services are provided via the internet.
