Increasing efforts by environmental agencies and governments to curb air quality degradation are supporting the electric bus sector. Due to the rising urban vehicular emissions, the quality of air is reducing with the passing of each day, which has led governments to formulate stringent policies. Presently, conventional, diesel-powered buses dominate the public transpiration system and are contributing rapidly to the rising greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Hence, the growing emissions of GHGs are compelling people to switch to eco-friendly transportation.

Compressed natural gas (CNG)-based transportation system is currently being used as an alternative to fossil fuel-based public transport system. But, due to benefits in the form of zero carbon emissions, electric buses are gaining traction and are predicted to grow in prevalence at a rapid pace during the forecast period. Furthermore, technological advancements in electric buses such as increased battery capacity are likely to cater to the need for a long- distance driving.
